Keeping Your Brain Updated: Auto‑Sync/Re‑Sync

Keep Your Brain Up to Date with Auto‑Sync & Sync Now

Elephas Super Brain has two distinct features to keep your knowledge up to date:

  • Auto‑Sync – automatically keeps content updated in the background.
  • Re‑Sync (Sync Now) – manually refreshes a specific source when you need it

1. Auto‑Sync – Automatic Background Updates (Every 4 Hours)

Auto‑Sync lets Elephas watch your connected content and keep it updated without manual work.

1.1 Auto‑Sync for the Whole Brain

Use this when you want Elephas to keep all sources in a brain updated automatically.

  • Open the Knowledge Base for your Super Brain.
  • In the bottom status bar, turn the Auto‑sync toggle On.
    • Notion image

Elephas will periodically:

  • Check all connected sources (Files & Folders, Notes Captured, integrations, etc.).
  • Re‑index only the parts that changed, so syncing stays fast and efficient.
💡

Auto‑Sync is exclusively available for pro and pro plus users.

1.2 Auto‑Sync on Individual Files or Folders

If you prefer fine‑grained control, you can choose which folders or files Auto‑Sync should watch.

  • In the Files & Folders source for that brain, locate the file or folder you want to keep updated.
  • Right‑click the item and select “Enable Auto Sync”.

Elephas will now:

  • Continuously monitor that specific file or folder for changes.
  • Automatically keep just that item updated in the background.

This is especially useful for local note apps (for example, Obsidian vault folders) where you want certain folders to always stay in sync.

2. Re‑Sync (Sync Now) – Manual One‑Time Refresh

Re‑Sync (shown as Sync Now in the UI) lets you trigger an immediate update for a single source, independent of the Auto‑Sync schedule.

If you’ve just added or changed a lot of content and don’t want to wait for the next auto‑sync:

  1. In the Knowledge Base, under Connected Sources, click a source (for example Files & FoldersNotes CapturedObsidianNotion, etc.).
  1. In the source details view, click “Sync Now”.

  1. Elephas will immediately scan and update that source, using the same smart, incremental indexing as Auto‑Sync.

Elephas Sync Now :

  • Sync Now (Auto Sync OFF):
    • When you click Sync Now while Auto Sync is disabled, Elephas checks only the files that are already indexed.

If it finds any changes (edited or updated content), it updates the Brain.

New files added to the folder are not indexed.

  • Sync Now (Auto Sync ON):
    • When you click Sync Now with Auto Sync enabled, Elephas checks for changes and also detects new files added to the indexed folders in Finder.

Any new files found are automatically added and indexed in the Brain.
