Handling Brain Embedding Errors
When using Super Brain, you might see messages related to embedding or model validation.
These are quick checks Elephas runs to ensure both online AI providers and offline models are ready for Brain indexing.
This guide helps you understand and fix the most common Brain embedding errors.
🔍 What These Errors Mean
Brain validates AI providers like Elephas, OpenAI, VoyageAI, and Azure, along with offline models.
If a provider or model isn’t ready, Elephas shows a simple message explaining what went wrong.
Example Errors & Fixes
Offline Model Error
Error message:
Offline embedding model ‘Multilingual E5 Large’ is currently loading. Please wait.
What it means:
Your offline model is being initialized in the background and isn’t ready yet.
Fix:
Wait for the model to finish loading.
You can check progress in Preferences → Offline tab.
Once the model is ready, the error will disappear automatically and you can start indexing.

Online API Key Error
Error message:
OpenAI API key not found
What it means:
Elephas couldn’t find your OpenAI API key to connect and fetch embeddings.
Fix:
Go to Preferences → AI Providers → OpenAI
Re-enter your API key, then return to Brain and start indexing.

3. Credits Exceeded Error
Error message:
Elephas credits limit exceeded (1200/1000 credits used)
What it means:
You’ve used up all available Elephas credits for your current plan.
Fix:
- Buy additional credits, or
- Upgrade your Elephas plan from Preferences → License
After adding credits or upgrading your plan, you can continue indexing.
